Fiordland Cinema

Operating since October 2004, the award winning Fiordland Cinema was specially constructed to house regular screenings of the locally filmed movie Ata Whenua- Shadowland (also known as Fiordland on Film).

The large curved screen and state of the art 7.1 Dolby surround sound make viewing this spectacular cinematic experience of Fiordland a theatre experience to remember.

In addition to the daily screenings of Ata Whenua – Shadowland, new main-stream movies and art house releases are screened daily, with projection from a state of the art digital projector for the best image quality.

Stick with the traditional popcorn and ice-cream, or indulge in a glass of our own Fiordland wine or beer to enjoy during the movie from one of our wide, comfortable seats (including individual side table).

The stylish Black Dog Bar boasts an impressive local wine list and cosy open fire to be enjoyed before and after the movies.

An asset to the township of Te Anau, this beautiful new facility is available for hire by arrangement.

The cinema has seating for 52 (plus a wheelchair bay), enabling a boutique cinema experience for individuals or small groups. Contact the cinema for further details.
